Tebogo Moloi cuts ties with Lesotho side Linare
Former Orlando Pirates ace and assistant coach Tebogo Moloi has parted ways with Lesotho’s Linare citing pressing commitments back home, writes Tlalane Phahla.
The club’s spokesperson Bokang Phasumane confirmed the development to FARPost on Monday, saying it was an amicable, mutual separation.
He indicated the South African coach had pressing commitments in his native country.
“Coach is leaving; we agreed to part ways as he found other commitments in South Africa. He came alone with no technical staff, so it’s just him going,” Phasumane told FARPost.
He joined ‘Tse Tala’ two years ago with his task to revive the fortunes of one of Lesotho’s oldest clubs.
In his first season in charge, Linare finished eighth after picking 13 wins, nine draws and eight losses.
This season, many expected them to stake a challenge for honours if they found some consistency.
Earlier in the year, there were reports that Moloi had parted ways with the club.
However, the club said he would remain in an advisory role.
Last weekend after a draw with Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), a game they were in control of until the final minutes, he bemoaned lack of proper preparation.
Linare has two camps, one set of players train in Maseru while others are in Leribe, and Moloi was with the ones in Leribe most of the time. Only a week before the new season started, he mixed both camps.
At some point, Moloi’s coaching qualifications, acquired in Germany, were questioned.
He was eventually cleared as he was short of 220 hours to attain a CAF Pro License. He is still awaiting the conversion to CAF A.
Moloi is a holder of a German International Coaching Certificate, which is said to be equivalent to a CAF A License.
