SAFA Vhembe secures new sponsorship

The South African Football Association (SAFA) in the Vhembe region have unveiled a new partnership which will see their four LFA’s gain more financial muscle.

During the official unveiling which took place in Muledane, near Thohoyandou in Limpopo this past weekend, SAFA announced Mathoho electrical and projects as a new sponsor.

The five-year agreement will see the LFA’s receiving R 400 000 to run their affairs.

MATHOHO SPEAKS…

Speaking at the event, the owner of Mathoho electrical and projects, Mpho Mathoho said the amount is likely to be increased by 50% from next year.

“One of the main reasons was that if you check SAFA Vhembe is the biggest region in South Africa and the Thulamela LFA is also the biggest in the country in terms of the number of teams,” he explained.

“So I realized that it’s difficult for our local teams to grow from LFA structures to professional set-up. So, I saw it fit that getting involved would also help not only develop players but also teams.

“Without helping these LFA’s, it will be impossible for our teams to develop to professional football level because of their financial incapabilities,” added Mathoho.

“It’s R 100 000 to each LFA. Thulamela, Collins Chabane, Makhado and Musina. We have a plan to increase by more than 50% from next year.”

SAFA Vhembe President Jabulani Ndobe has also welcomed the financial boost and encouraged other businesses to come on board.

“On behalf of SAFA Vhembe, we are delighted to witness one of the sons of the soil in Vhembe District touched by God to Sponsor the four Local Football Associations in the SAFA Vhembe Region,” he said.

“Mpho Mathoho of Mpho Mathoho Electrical came to the rescue as he gave R100 000.00 each LFA for the Knockout Competition.

“We encourage other business people to come forward and answer our call in enhancing the Development of our players.

“This Sponsorship is a stepping stone in the realization of the Region’s long-term goal. Football in Vhembe shall never be the same,” added Ndobe.

The event was attended by amongst others Vhembe District Executive Mayor Dowelani Nenguda and minister of communications Khumbudzo Ntshavheni.
