Why Hugo Broos thinks Botswana will be tougher
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has warned his charges that their friendly encounter against Botswana on Tuesday evening in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers will be tougher than Sierra Leone.
However, Broos’ charges are a motivated side heading into the encounter. They are coming from a 4-0 win against Sierra Leone.
Broos stated why he anticipates a tight contest despite having home ground advantage. Firstly, Botswana and South Africa are neighbouring countries separated by a border.
Secondly, based on video analysis of Botswana matches, The Zebras play better football than Sierra Leone.
“The game will be more difficult than the one on Saturday. We analysed the opponent, and it was our conclusion. I think it’s logical that it’s Botswana. Botswana and South Africa are always something special. The guys will be motivated to do well against us,” Broos told the media.
“Again, what I saw from Botswana in their games is better than Sierra Leone… so it will be tougher for us.”

Despite the tricky Botswana tie, Broos believes it’s for a good cause for players to test themselves.
“[The game will be] Not so easy as Saturday. However, this is good for this camp because the plan is that after these two games, we can go on with this group.
“Maybe change two, three or four players. That depends on injury, not in shape, whatever player is really good at that moment. But I like to go on with this group now,” Broos added.
Kickoff at FNB Stadium has been changed from 3pm to 6pm.
