Xulu calls for consistency in Bafana squad

Bafana Bafana vice captain Siyanda Xulu has called upon his teammates to remain consistent in their performances.

This comes after the national team ended a four-match winless streak when they thrashed Sierra Leone 4-0 last week in a friendly game.

Xulu is hoping the players can replicate their Saturday performance when they host Botswana in another friendly on Tuesday despite coach Hugo Broos confirming that he will field a totally changed line up.

“The game wont be easy we coming back from a four nil win, we have raised the bar. For us now is to maintain that and make sure we keep focusing on improving the team and improving the group,” Xulu told the media.

“On Saturday we had a good game, normally we don’t take our chances. We improved now we got something that we working on, we converted our four chances which was something very good.

“We up for it, hopefully we’ll keep the objectives clear to make sure we bring back that winning mentality. https://twitter.com/BafanaBafana/status/1574404711943491589?t=6-YPZX4UXf1734nVGuDldQ&s=19

Xulu further believes a positive outcome is possible on Tuesday even though the team will be different. According to him, only best players are selected to represent the national team.

“I think the main thing for us is to make sure we get results, so whoever comes in knows what to do and how to do it.

“The coach has stated that he’s happy with what he has now. As players we very prepared to take whatever he wants us to improve as a group,” Xulu added.

Bafana will be aiming to make two wins in two against The Zebras. The last time they registered two consecutive victories was back in October and November 2021. They defeated Ethiopia and Zimbabwe 1-0 respectively in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Kickoff at FNB Stadium is at 6pm.
