Bloemfontein Celtic Supporters National chairperson Mabena Pule has revealed why the club supporters decided to boycott the Macufe Cup between Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM on Saturday at Free State Stadium.
There were no sign of Siwelele fans despite having a huge crowd in the stands.
Pule slammed the Free State Provincial government for organising the football competition whilst there is no professional team in the province.

“Why is FS provincial government taking money and giving it to Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM to play in the Macufe Cup when there is no FS team there,” Pule told SNAWA.
“We want the FS government to put money into FS having a team in professional football.
“Why must I pay R80 to go watch Chiefs and Royal AM and then both teams take the money to Gauteng and KZN.
“Why can’t the money not be reinvested in football in the FS. We could have had a FS 11 playing against Kaizer Chiefs and know that the money paid is reinvested into the FS province.”
Confident Pule revealed that plans to revive Celtic are underway. They also expect some funding from the provincial government.
“We are going to revive professional football in FS, hence we as Celtic supporters did not go to the Macufe Cup.
“We had a picnic so that they can see that we as the Bloenfontein Celtic supporters have not given up and wanted to put pressure on the FS government.
“Bloemfontein Celtic supporters have a fund that we have put together to raise money to try get a club back in FS, we have already raised R250k,” Pule added.
The only two professional teams in Free State province Celtic and Free State Stars were sold in August 2021 and August 2022 respectively.
Celtic was renamed to Royal AM, whilst FS Stars were renamed to Casri Stars FC.
