AmaZulu coach Brandon Truter seems to have secured the signature of his favourite goalkeeper as the club is set to announce the arrival, Virgil Vries.
The KwaZulu-Natal side is on the verge of signing the former Kaizer Chiefs and Swallows goalie after he impressed Truter and the technical team.
Vries has been training with AmaZulu for about a month, being assessed with the Usuthu looking to ensure they sign the right man.
The Namibian international has been clubless since parting ways with Swallows back in April.

Vries’ likely acquisition by Usuthu is set to give the club’s current number one, Veli Mothwa, competition to up his game.
Mothwa’s confidence has seemingly taken a hit: he is under pressure due to his below-par performances of late, and the possible arrival of the experienced Vries could be what the Bafana Bafana international needs as he has grown to be comfortable with no competition at AmaZulu.
Vries, 31, is set to know his fate in the coming days, as AmaZulu coach Truter confirmed that the 31-year-old completed his assessment most recently with a decision to be made.
“Vries did his last testing this week,” Truter told the media while explaining the delay in completing the deal with the Namibian player.
“He came to us carrying an injury from the national team (Namibia) and Swallows as well,” added Truter.
“We had to assess that and put him on a strict programme, and his final testing was on Monday. We are waiting for those results before releasing anything to the media.”
Vries could become the latest signing at the Durban-based side, following the addition of Ethan Brooks (TS Galaxy), Rally Bwalya (Simba), Riaan, Hanamub and Veluyeke Zulu (Chippa United).
