Dladla reveals what motivates Richards Bay ahead of KZN Derby

Richards Bay FC co-coach Pitso Dladla has revealed his troops’ factor of motivation ahead of their third KwaZulu-Natal Derby of the 2022/23 season.

The DStv Premiership debutants will tackle AmaZulu in a league game on Wednesday (17:00) at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Dladla’s men have started their debut season in South Africa’s topfight on a positive note, displaying great performances home and away.

The Natal Rich Boys have an an impressive away record in the league and they are second on the log standings, five points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played a game more.

However, Richards Bay are number on the standings when it comes to away matches which according to Dladla is a result of great dedication from the players.

The 2021/23 second-tier league champions visit Usuthu in high spirit because of their good form.

“It will be a tough game for us against AmaZulu, but we are motivated by the fact that we are the only team with a good away record this season,” Dladla told FARPost.

“It’s a record we want to keep; we’ve spoken with the boys that we must always fight and be fearless in all the games, especially against our neighbour teams. We must try to get positive results.

The coach knows that Usuthu, who are in the MTN8 semi-final and got the fourth biggest votes in the Carling Black Label, are regarded as favourites to win the derby.

“As motivated as we are, some see us as underdogs as we face a team that has been playing well,” he said.

“AmaZulu are coming from a very good performance against Kaizer Chiefs in the cup. We believe our boys can keep their fighting spirit until the end.”
