Ex-Wits star axed from Zimbabwe club over bad behavior

Former Jomo Cosmos and Bidvest Wits midfielder Denver Mukamba has reportedly been axed from Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League side Ngezi Platinum because of his uncouth behavior.

The club is yet to officially communicate with regards to Mukamba’s fate but FARPost understands that his contract which expires on 31 December will not be renewed.

Interim coach Takesure Chiragwi has also been instructed not to use the player in the remaining five games.

The former Dynamos midfielder joined Ngezi Platinum in January 2020 following a brief stint with Chapungu based in Gweru.

At the point, Mukamba appeared to have reinvented himself having been tagged the ‘bad boy’ of Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League.

Previously the 29-year-old had been shipped from one club to another as clubs struggled to deal with his errand behavior.

In 2018 Dynamos loaned him to Caps United after coach Lloyd Mutasa showed him the exit door, making it public that he failed to deal with the player’s uncouth behaviour.

He returned to Dynamos when the 2018 season ended but the two parties immediately ended their marriage, before he surfaced at Chapungu.

How Mukamba handled himself even left Jomo Sono disappointed and at one point he described him as a shame.

“Denver was a shame. Denver had everything, but the lifestyle in South Africa killed him,” Sono was quoted saying by Herald.

“Life is too fast there. There are too many beautiful women. I also don’t know if the liquor there is different to the liquor here, but what a player! What a player he is!

“You know, he had everything that guy, but his lifestyle was not good. I always say to the young players, even if you are going to sign with a big team, I still say go to school.”
