Sundowns Ladies set new Super League record

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have broken their last season’s goal tally when they defeated Vasco Da Gama 2-0 in the Hollywoodbets Super League clash at Parow Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Late goals from Boitumelo Rabale and Lelona Daweti sealed the valuable three points for the defending champions.

Banyana Ba Style have now scored a whopping 88 goals, one more than last campaign, having only conceded 11 goals so far.

Masandawa also possesses a colossal goal difference of +77.

Currently, the red-hot Brazilians are flourishing at the summit of the Super League table with 58 points, 10 points clear of second-placed TUT Ladies.

Reflecting on the game itself, Daweti stated that: “The game was far from easy because our opponents deployed a low block and foiled several of our attacking chances. They came hard at us, thus, we had to dig deep to secure maximum points.

“These are the kind of fixtures that we will be encountering during the CAF Women’s Champions League, and we must be ready to always find a way to win. We are pleased with our fighting spirit yet again.”

Meanwhile, Rabale added: “The pressure was on us to win the game and we showed our class when it mattered the most. Our opponents were very determined to get a result, but we were patient, and we reaped the rewards late on.

“We are very proud of our performance today and we are prepared for the next game.”
