Mato Madlala lauded for masterstroke Arrows decision

Former Golden Arrows defender Siyabonga Sangweni has hailed the club’s chairlady Mato Madlala for a masterstroke decision.

Sangweni was referring to the decision to hand over the reins to the rookie duo of Vusi Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza following Lehlohonolo Seema’s departure in April.

The two started the season on the wrong footing, losing their opening two fixtures.

However, they have only lost once in the last six matches. The loss came at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns, with three wins over AmaZulu, Chippa United and Swallows. The draws were with TS Galaxy and Marumo Gallants.

Abafana Bes’thende headed into the international break with a morale-boosting victory after humiliating Swallows 4-0. The result forced Swallows to axe Dylan Kerr.

“You see, what is currently happening at Arrows, I am enjoying it. I do not think we give the chairlady enough credit. I once told you that the chairlady understands football, and she always gets it right,” Sangweni told FARPost.

“Many people doubted Vusi Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza, but now look at them.

“They are feeding all doubters humble pie. The way Arrows plays reminds me of our generation.

“They are using youngsters, and there is no star or big player.” ‘Nsimbi’ believes Madlala has managed to keep it simple and stick to the culture with no European influence.

“They stick to their culture, no European influence, just the Arrows we know.

“Playing simple football and being well-coached is incredibly beautiful to watch.

“I love it and give credit to the chairlady; she is exceptionally good.”
Arrows are currently eighth on the table after picking three wins, three draws and three defeats.

Their run has seen them amass 12 points from the opening nine fixtures.

They host Stellenbosch on Friday before visiting Orlando Pirates the following Tuesday.
