The reason behind Richards Bay’s early form

Richards Bay co-coach Pitso Dladla has revealed the reason behind their early form.

The Natal Rich Boyz are riding on the crest of a wave after collecting 17 points, just two adrift of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Their 1-0 win on Wednesday over AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium saw them move to second place.

Interestingly, Usuthu became the third KZN victim of Richards Bay after the newcomers claimed the scalps of Golden Arrows and Royal AM.

INCREDIBLE AWAY FORM

“Look, to be honest, it is something we always wanted to do; we did not want to say that disrespectfully. We wanted to dominate the province, and that was a plan to win against other teams,” Dladla told the media.

“We have played them [KZN teams] away from home, but our mentality is all these games are at home. We must treat them as our home games.”

“We focus on what we can control, and we are the number one team with a good away record.”

The DStv Premiership debutants have started their campaign on a very high note, as they are currently the number one team in away form and second on the log.

They have only lost once on the road, which came against Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

They have only played once outside their province. With their excellent away record, Richards Bay will play outside the province for the second time this season.

UTMOST PROMISE

The coach believes they are facing Pirates in a very good mood after defeating Usuthu.

Richards Bay visit Orlando Pirates on Saturday night

“Most of our away games have been in KZN. We are now moving to Gauteng to play Orlando Pirates, our second game away from the province. We only played Stellenbosch outside KZN and came back with a win.”

“Going to Orlando, we will have to go there all out. Beating AmaZulu helped us to change our mentality ahead of that clash. We didn’t want to go there under pressure. We will represent the province very well.”
