Motsepe Foundation Championship

Sibiya vows to turn VFA’s fortunes around

Venda Football Academy [VFA] interim coach Kabelo Sibiya has vowed to continue to turn the club’s fortunes around when they face Hungry Lions this afternoon in a Motsepe Foundation Championship clash.

VFA will take on the Northern Cape side at Windhoek Draught Park Stadium with the kick-off scheduled for 15:30.

Sibiya’s charges come into this game having suffered a 1-0 defeat to NB La Masia last Friday at Bidvest Stadium.

Meanwhile, Lions come into this encounter highly motivated following their 2-1 victory over JDR Stars this past Saturday.

It is not surprising that the Vhembe-based outfit has recorded poor results this season with four defeats in six league games.

There was a major unrest in the dressing room which allegedly got the technical team divided when the departed head coach Michael Loftman and assistant coach Luvhengo Mungomeni were involved in an ugly tussle that nearly turned physically during their first match of the campaign against Magesi which they lost 1-0.

Despite all of this drama, the former Black Eagles mentor believes his troops will be able to deliver positive results moving forward.

WHAT SIBIYA SAID AHEAD OF THE GAME…

“The boys are ready. We have been preparing well and they are very excited about this match,” Sibiya told the club’s media officer.

“They are showing a lot of good signs in terms of winning a football match.

We had a very good session today where the guys were really enjoying the training session.

“We promise that we will do our best to get fruitful results.”

As things stand, VFA are placed 13th in the log standings with six points from six outings, whereas Lions are in the fourth position on the table with 12 points from the same number of games played by their counterpart.
