City Rovers, Baroka coaches vent frustrations at match official

Platinum City Rovers coach Tesco Macheke and Baroka mentor Vincent Kobola vented their frustrations with the match officiating in their Motsepe Foundation Championship clash on Tuesday afternoon.

In a post-match outburst, the duo revealed how they were “ashamed” by the officiating when Bakgaga got the better of City Rovers 2-1 at the Global Stadium, in Lebowakgomo.

Macheke reckons that the referee should have handled the game fairly and believes the hosts should have not awarded a penalty in the first place, whereas Kobola stated how frustrated he was with some of the decisions the referee took despite their hard-fought victory.

The losing side coach went on to suggest that Baroka were being favoured by the match official as most of the decisions were against them.

MACHEKE’S COMMENTS…

“I was not happy with the man inside [referee]. If you check the decisions he was taking it was mostly against us,” he told the media after the game.

“We also got a chance that he was supposed to give it to us but he never blew it. He just changed direction and moved away.

“So, you could see that most of the time these games are determined by officials and officials are giving our games away.

“As a coach, I mean, I’m carrying a lot of families and I have to answer for something that was beyond my control which was supposed to take the right decisions for us so that we balance the game.

“This is a fair game we need to play at the end of the day.”

KOBOLA’S SIDE ON THE REFEREE

“This was the most frustrating day of my life because I was frustrated with the referee,” he added.

“Some of the decisions I don’t want to talk about them.”

However, Kobola celebrated and expressed his pride at his side getting back to winning ways following their two consecutive losses.

“But I’m also not happy with the way we played. We were playing at home but we played like we were playing I guess the match officiating affected our play,” explained the ex-Maritzburg United assistant coach.
