Kadewere’s recovery sojourn impresses RCD Mallorca
Zimbabwe international striker Tino Kadewere could be poised for an early return to action for Spanish La Liga side RCD Mallorca after resuming training with the team.
The 26-year-old was intially ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing the quadriceps femoris muscle on his right leg during training.
The unfortunate injury denied him a date with his idol Karim Benzema when RCD Mallorca faced Real Madrid in September.
Prior to that he had also missed two games against Vallecas and Girona respectively because he was yet to get a work permit.
On a positive note, the La Liga club posted pictures on their Twitter page on Thursday showing the former Harare City gunslinger in training with the rest of the team.
The pictures showed how the forward has progressed in his recovery path.
However it is not yet clear when he will return to action, but the fact that he is training presents a ray of hope that his return could be on the cards.
Kadewere is on loan from French side Lyon where he had been starved of game time.
Indications are that there is an option for a permanent move to the Spain club if he impresses coach Javier Aguirre during the loan stint ending at the end of the current season.
Having become the first Zimbabwean to sign for a La Liga club, he will be hoping to make impact and possibly open doors for budding players from the Southern Africa nation.
Kadewere has a proven record that he can deliver goals for the club if effectively deployed, having won the 2019/20 coveted golden boot in the French Ligue 2 when he was in the books of Le Havre.
In that season, Kadewere scored an impressive 20 goals in 24 games for Le Havre, which all but triggered Lyon to sign him.
