Some Orlando Pirates fans have urged want-away striker Kwame Peprah to fight for his place in the team.
The supporters have flocked to the Ghanaian’s Facebook page to show their empathy with his lack of game-time.
One of the fans Elliot Godla has urged Peprah to embrace competition, saying it is the essence of football.
“I fully understand your frustration Kwame. However, competition in football is healthy so don’t leave. Fight for game-time given; an opportunity use it optimally to your best ability. You’re such a great player for Pirates,” he said.
There was also more message of comfort from another supporter Thati Phalatse.
“Keep on working hard bafanas. Some of us believe in you,” he said.
Peprah gave a muted response to Mc Pee Dlangamandla who asked the striker on whether he was indeed unhappy at Pirates.
“I heard that you are not happy at the club. Is it true?” he said.
Mesuli Zungu simply said: “We love you too kwame.”
Thandoh Shakira Ngubade chipped in saying: “Your chance is coming my brother. Don’t lose hope.”
Peprah was among the Buccaneers stand-out performers last season under co-coaches Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi.
The powerful forward helped Pirates reach the CAF Confederation Cup final, which they lost to RB Berkane in Nigeria.
However, the coming of Spanish coach Jose Riveiro at Pirates has changed Peprah’s fortunes.
The centre-forward has hardly played this season and is having to be content merely making the playing squad.
Reports in Ghana have suggested that the striker is pushing for an exit from Pirates due to the limited game-time.
The 21-year-old signed for Pirates from King Faisal FC of Ghana on a three-year contract after impressing then coach Josef Zinnbaeur last season.
The Ghanaian scored nine goals for Pirates last season across all competitions, including two goals in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Riveiro recently leapt to the defence of Peprah, saying it was unfair to single him let alone for blame over the scoring drought.
“Peprah is doing well and that is why he is in the starting eleven. He has grown the level of confidence and like I said it is very difficult to score a goal, it is not easy, so little by little,” the coach told journalists.
Peprah came with a big reputation to Pirates after scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 32 games for Faisal FC in the Ghanaian Premier League in the 2020 season.
