How Maduka can save his Maritzburg job

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has indicated how under fire coach John Maduka can save his job.

Kadodia was responding about the future of the Malawian mentor and reports linking the club with Lehlohonolo Seema.

The Team of Choice has had a tough start to the season, raising fears they may end up fighting relegation come end of the season.

They have conceded 10 goals in 10 DStv Premiership games, winning only two against Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.

They drew four against Swallows, Cape Town City and Sekhukhune, and lost four.
Their defeats came against Stellenbosch, Supersport United, Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs.

The recent results have created a lot of speculation about Maduka’s future.

Kadodia said the club had not spoken with any coach but did hint that the future of Maduka will be decided in next three games.

The club will have their mid-season review early in November.
“We must understand we’ve got a new team, we’ve been building and the confidence of the players has been growing,” Kadodia told FARPost.

“I must categorically state that we’re not talking with Lehlonoholo Seema, I was shocked by the reports, we are not aware of that, it’s just media speculation.”

“Look, we will review the situation at the halfway mark of the season as we always do at Maritzburg.
“We will review with him and if we are happy, he will then continue,” he said.

United managed to get a point against on form Richards Bay FC at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.
The chairman was left impressed by the fight shown by his team.

“A very hard-fought game, I believe we should have got three points, we had chances.
Getting out of the bottom of the log was a morale booster for the boys. Our next games will be crucial.”

The next three games for United set to decide the future of the coach, as they face AmaZulu FC, Mamelodi Sundowns and Lamontville Golden Arrows before a long break.
