Tuks stumble as Hungry Lions claim pole position

Tuks stumbled again in their quest to set the pace in the Motsepe Foundation Championship when they were held to their second successive draw while Hungry Lion claimed pole position after back-to-back victories.

Tuks missed out on the opportunity to go top of the Championship table after playing to a goalless draw against Venda Football Academy at Thohoyandou Stadium.

The Tshwane-based side are one of the early pacesetters in the National First Division and remain one of the few teams yet to lose a match this season.

The Tlisane Motaung-coached club have won four games and drawn four times after eight games played thus far.

Meanwhile, Hungry Lions moved to the summit of the log after claiming back-to-back victories in the league.

Lions cruised to a 1-0 win against Baroka at Windhoek Draught Park Stadium and defeated another Limpopo outfit VFA in midweek.

Bakgakga were relegated from the DStv Premiership last season.

Black Leopards who have struggled for form since the start of the 2022/23 campaign played to a 0-0 stalemate in the Limpopo derby against Magesi on Sunday afternoon.

Lidoda Duvha have already shown head coach Joel Masutha the exit door with the club languishing 14th on the log.

The relationship between Leopards and Masutha is as good as done following the arrival of Zimbabwean coach Rodwell Dhlakama who is set to take over at the club as reported by FARPost.

Casric Stars returned to winning ways after beating the KZN side Uthongathi 1-0 at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Prior to winning against Uthongathi, Stars were defeated by La Masia on Wednesday at Bidvest Stadium.

The remaining round of fixtures will take place on Monday when Cape Town Spurs face La Masia at Athlone Stadium while Polokwane City and TTM will lock horns at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
