Kaizer Chiefs’ shortcomings identified
Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila has identified Kaizer Chiefs’ shortcomings. This comes after the Chilli Boys defeated Amakhosi 2-1 on Saturday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Chippa United has been a changed side Morgan Mammila replaced Daine Klate at the hot seat. The Gqeberha outfit has now won three matches in a row. They defeated AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants before Chiefs’ encounter.
“One thing for sure, they got weak points, they are classic players they don’t like chasing, so I told my players, firstly, let’s control the tempo of the game,” Mammila told the media.
“We did that in the first five minutes, they couldn’t mark us, we were free. Unfortunately, we didn’t score in the first half, should we score in the second half, were going to talk about something else, get more momentum to get more goals.
“It was a difficult match, especially Chiefs form three out of three. They are strong attack individually brilliance. The plan worked, we move from this game.”
The victory took Chippa United to the top half of the DStv Premiership. They are now seventh on the log with 14 points from 10 matches. On the other hand, Amakhosi are still fourth despite the defeat, with 17 points from 11 matches.
Up next for Mammila and company is a home tie against Sekhukhune United. The Port Elizabeth side will be aiming to make it four wins in four. This will be their best run for the first time this season.
