Salah emerges as the African headline act in Europe 

After his record-breaking hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League last week, Egyptian talisman Mohamed Salah was the African headline act again after scoring a classy goal when Liverpool beat Manchester City in a hotly contested Premier League match played on Sunday.

Senegalese Sadio Mane, who has been under massive scrutiny of late, was also on target for Bayern Munich, along with Cameroonian Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, when they outwitted Freiburg 5-0 on the same day.

Mo Salah [Liverpool]

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah scored a classy second-half goal to ensure a narrow 1-0 win for Liverpool over Manchester City on Sunday.

Salah cemented his scoring form after the record-breaking hat-trick during a six-minute goal-scoring spree when the Reds drubbed Rangers in the Champions League.

In this one, the talented forward capitalized on a mistake made by defender Joao Cancelo before speeding to loft the ball beyond the Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson, in the 75th minute.

Sadio Mane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting [Bayern Munich]

Senegalese star Sadio Mane and Cameroon skipper Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting were on target as Bayern Munich outfoxed lowly Freiburg 5-0 on Sunday.

Serge Gnabry opened the scoring after 13th minutes, and Choupo-Moting doubled the lead moments later.

Leeroy Sane and Sadio Mane scored the third and fourth goals, respectively, and Marcel Sabizter’s 80th-minute strike sealed the emphatic win.

Moses Simon, Ignatius Ganago, Mostafa Mohamed [Nantes] and Noah Fadiga [Brest]

Africans, Moses Simon, Ignatius Ganago and Mostafa Mohamed put up sterling performances to score for Nantes as they overpowered Brest 4-1 in the French Ligue 1.

Senegalese defender Noah Fadiga opened the scoring for Brest in the 18th minute, but his side crumbled like a deck of cards under intense pressure from Nantes.

Nigerian forward Moses Simon was the chief architect in this one, as he equalized for Nantes in the 35th minute before paving the way for goals scored by Cameroonian Ignatius Ganago and Egyptian Mostafa Mohamed.

Frenchman Moussa Sissoko scored their last goal to seal the win.

Victor Osimhen [Napoli] and Musa Barrow [Bologna]

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored the winning goal as Napoli came back from behind to beat Bologna 3-2 and return to the summit of Serie A standings.

Bologna opened the scoring through Joshua Zirkzee after 41 minutes, and Juan Jesus restored parity moments before half-time.

Hirving Lozano then put Napoli in control in the 49th minute with a brilliant goal. Still, a long-range effort from Gambian international Musa Barrow levelled matters before Victor Osimhen snatched Napoli’s winning goal after an inspiring solo run.

Ademola Lookman [Atalanta]

Another Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, scored in the Seria A for Atalanta when they edged Sassuolo 2-1 on Saturday.

The goal was his fourth in 10 appearances in the elite league since joining from Leicester City. Atalanta are now second on the league table.

Silas Katompa Mvumpa and Ali Ahamada [Stuttgart]

DR Congo forward Silas Katompa Mvumpa and Comoros midfielder Ali Ahamada were on target for Stuggart in their 4-1 win over Bochum.

Katompa Mvumpa, formerly Silas Wamangituka, notched a brace for Stuggart.

He opened the scores after three minutes, and Ahamada doubled the lead 20 minutes later.

Bochum pulled one back in the 29th minute, but Katompa Mvumpa restored the two-goal advantage on the 64th-minute mark before Wataru Endo scored their fourth goal to wrap up the win.

M’bala Nzola [Spezia]

Angolan footballer M’bala Nzola was on target for Spezia when they settled for a share of the spoils with Cremeneso in a Seria A match played on Sunday.

Cyriel Dessers struck first for Cremeneso after two minutes, and Nzola equalized in the 19th minute.

Emil Holm gave Spezia hope for a win when he thrust them into the lead three minutes later, but their hopes were short-lived as Charles Pickel scored to ensure a share of the spoils.
