Seema humbled by Hearts of Oak’s approach

Former Golden Arrows coach Lehlohonolo Seema has opened up about the prospect of coaching one of the biggest clubs in Africa.

Seema together with Serbian coach Slavko Matic have been shortlisted to take over at Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak.

‘The Phobians’ parted ways with Coach Samuel Boadu and his backroom staff following a poor start to the 2022/23 campaign. They have appointed Samuel Nii Noi as the interim coach.

HOW SEEMA WAS APPROACHED

Speaking to FARPost, Seema says just being shortlisted by a club of Hearts of Oak magnitude is humbling by itself.

“There was a call that came to my agent by the chairman of the team asking for my CV and said there were few coaches that they have shortlisted us with another coach,” he said.

“We are waiting for a decision. Surely this week we will hear what is happening. It makes me feel good because if there are people that can look for your services it shows that you are doing something right.

“It’s one of the biggest teams in Africa. I remember in my playing times we used to play there. When they say Hearts of Oak you know it’s a big team. You know how Ghanaians are passionate about soccer. They are also one of the teams heading to the Word Cup and it shows there is something special going on,” added Seema.

“Nonetheless, nothing has been finalised and it can go either way. I still appreciate and feel honoured by just being shortlisted as one of the coaches the club is looking for. It gives me a good feeling.”

DECISION ALREADY MADE?

According to a report by Ghanaian football publication, GhanaSoccerNet, Matic has already arrived in Accra. He recently left Bulgarian club Septemvri Sofia after an unpleasant start to the 2022/23 season.
