Sundowns roll past JVW, TUT back on track
Goals from Morifi Chuene and Nonhlanhla Mthandi handed Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies rolled past JVW Ladies over the weekend in the Hollywoodbets Super League clash at Bidvest Stadium.
The red-hot Brazilians dominated possession in the majority of the match forcing Banyana Banyana goalie Kaylin Swart to work overtime.
Swart went on to be named the Player of the Match following her stellar performance on the day despite the loss.
As a result, Banyana Ba Style has continued to consolidate their top spot in the Super League with 67 points with 22 wins in 25 games.
Masandawana have also banged a whopping 95 goals and have only conceded 11 goals thus far.
Downs Ladies boasts a massive goal difference of +84 in the league.
Ahead of the mouthwatering showpiece, Sundowns head coach Jerry Tshabalala had anticipated fire works from their opponents as he had described JVW as a very “solid side” with quality players.
WHAT TSHABALALA SAID BEFORE THE GAME
“We are playing against a very solid side who have found a way to score goals throughout the season,” Tshabalala told Sundowns’ media.
“Apart from us, they are one of three teams to have scored 50 goals alongside the University of Johannesburg (UJ). They are very good at creating chances from different positions on the pitch.
“However, we are aware of the threats they possess. They have players capable of hurting anyone. Nevertheless, we have our attacking threats, and we cannot wait to unleash them. We are fearless and ready to battle for maximum points.”
Meanwhile, TUT Ladies humiliated Coal City Wizards with a 5-2 drubbing at home.
As thing stand, TUT remain in the second place on the table with 51 points, 13 points adrift from log leaders Sundowns.
