SuperSport pundit Phumudzo Manenzhe has outlined why Miguel Timm is a vital cog for the team.
Timm, who joined Pirates from Marumo Gallants during the pre-season, has hit the ground running in Soweto.
He has become a key player for coach Jose Riveiro, cementing his place in the starting XI despite stiff competition. Timm has featured in all but one of the team’s matches this season.
Timm was an unused substitute for the opening match against Swallows. It means he has played 13 games for his new club in all competitions.

“I think Miguel Timm was brilliant in the MTN8, [Mamelodi] Sundowns did not get a shot on target. It’s due to the role that Miguel Timm plays, it’s due to a role that Goodman Mosele plays,” Manenzhe said.
“Miguel Timm and Goodman Mosele play an important role. They are key components of the formation the coach is playing. [That’s] in terms of Orlando Pirates playing the way they are playing.

“He’s one of those fearless midfielders that will drop deep. Even if he has got a man behind him, he will still ask for the ball. He will give the game, or the philosophy Orlando Pirates wants to play.
Manenzhe further revealed that Jose Riverio’s style of play suits Timm. He explained that this was because he is comfortable on the ball even when he’s under pressure.
“He’s very comfortable on the ball, and he initiates play for Orlando Pirates. Modern football is not about hard tackling and pushing people. It’s about blocking passing, that’s something he does very well.
“They don’t want to bypass the midfield. Orlando Pirates want to play the ball into the midfield. Then you will find it in the final third,” Manenzhe concluded.
The Bucs finally got back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday evening. They defeated Golden Arrows 2-0. Timm played yet another important role in the middle of the park.
