Lechesa reveals Polokwane City’s secret behind form

Polokwane City co-coach Duncan Lechesa has revealed that the secret behind Rise and Shine’s good form.

The coach believes their fine run is all down to hard work. He further stated that their decent start to the new campaign was also a reward for good planning.

He was speaking in a post-match interview with FARPost following their 2-1 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Monday.

LECHESA SPEAKS…

“It’s only hard work, my brother,” Lechesa told this publication. The only thing that we know in our team is to put in hard work. Nothing else.

“If you put in hard work, the chances of getting positive results, in the end, are always high.”

Lechesa’s desire to bring back the Limpopo club to the PSL is one of the secrets behind his side’s form.

So far, City has won five games, drew one and lost two from the eight games they have played.

The club is currently placed second on the table with 16 points, just two points adrift of log leaders Hungry Lions.

Now, the side seems highly motivated following their victory on Monday as they attempt to win the South African football second tier when the season comes to an end.

Shifting the focus to the game itself, he said: “Look, a very difficult game. We didn’t anticipate that they [TTM] will sit back and look for counterattacks.”

“But we knew if we could score a goal, the game will open up.

WHAT LECHESA TOLD HIS PLAYERS AT HALF-TIME

“I told my players that we needed to be offensive as our opponents were sitting back. That’s why we put in strikers.

“The sad part was conceding from a set play which we spoke about during the half-time break.

“Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter, what matters the most is that we came back and won the game,” added the former Mthatha Bucks mentor.
