Arthur Zwane singles out Chiefs’ persistent flaw

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has singled out the club’s persistent flaw that has repeatedly cost them points.

Chiefs played a 2-2 draw against TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

They have failed to collect maximum points in their previous two games in the league. The Galaxy draw followed a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chippa United last Saturday.

Of course, they have hit a purple patch up front, finding the back of the net in all their previous six games in the Premiership.

However, Zwane has stressed that poor defending, which saw them concede some soft goals, has been their biggest flaw.

“I think when you are building something, you always have that lapse of concentration here and there,” Zwane told the media.

“And, unfortunately, when we make mistakes, we get punished all the time.

“You must look at how we force oppositions to make mistakes, but we don’t punish them.

“I mean, they [TS Galaxy] scored two goals from our mistakes. When you look at the goals we conceded in the last game [against Chippa United], the goals are identical.

“In terms of the crosses from the right, we could have won the 4-2 or 5-2 given chances we created. There are many positives, of course. Our downfall now is that we can’t keep a clean sheet.

“Until we get to minimise conceding soft goals. Then we’ll know we are on the right track because our downfall is just conceding goals,” the Chiefs mentor added.

The Soweto giants have managed five wins, three draws, and four defeats in 12 games.

Chiefs will aim to go through to the MTN8 finals when they face AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida stadium on Sunday.

The first leg between the two sides ended in a dramatic goalless draw.
