How Richards Bay are keeping their players grounded
Richards Bay co-coach Pitso Dladla has revealed how they are keeping their players grounded after a sensational start in the DStv Premiership.
Dladla said there was a need to avoid complacency as they wind up their first-round fixtures of the 2022/23 season.
The Natal Rich Boyz have started their debut top-flight campaign on a very high note as they are unbeaten in seven games.
They sit in position two on the log after 12 matches, on the same number of points as the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who have two games in hand.
They have become early surprises of the league, winning six against Cape Town City, AmaZulu, Royal AM, Stellenbosch, Sekhukhune and Golden Arrows.
They have picked up four draws with Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy and Marumo Gallants. Their only two losses came against Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.
Dladla noted their biggest struggle could be complacency and not being able to sustain their good run.
He has since explained what the club is doing to manage their good run.
DLADLA SPEAKS…
“The performances that you see on the field, it’s not only what we do in training. There are so many things we do, from tactical to physiological,” Dladla told the media.
“We also deal with social issues, which the chairman and management deal with. We do a lot behind the scenes, some other things may look small but to us are very important.”
“We have regular sessions with pastors and psychologists, to deal with mental issues and how we can manage pressure.”
Richards Bay will be hoping to end their best year ever with six points in their last two matches of 2022.
They travel to Bidvest Stadium to meet Chippa United and host Swallows, which will be their last fixture of the year.
