Sundowns Ladies retain Super League title
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have officially retained the Hollywoodbets Super League title with three games to spare.
This comes after Banyana Ba Style continued with their run of good form thrashing Limpopo club First Touch Ladies 8-0 at Wits Main Stadium over the weekend.
Lelona Daweti’s hat-trick, a brace from Boitumelo Rabale, and goals from Andisiwe Mgcoyi, Melinda Kgadiete, and Miche Minnies were enough for Downs Ladies to secure maximum points on the day.
As a result, Masandawana are cruising nicely on the summit of the table with 73 points from 27 outings.
The red-hot Brazilians have won 24 wins games, drew 1 and lost two in the process.
Jerry Tshabalala’s charges are the highest-scoring side of the league having scored a whopping 112 goals and only conceded just 11 goals and boasting a massive +101 goal difference.
TSHABALALA STILL DEMANDS MORE GOALS
“Our desire is to score plenty of goals because they win you and ultimately titles,” ‘Kappa’ told Sundowns media.
“We have high expectations for ourselves in front of the goal and one of our aims is to achieve a goal difference of +100. Although we are gunning for these numbers, we aim to frequently win games and enjoy ourselves on the pitch.
“Scoring these number of goals increases our confidence ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League which is just around the corner.
Tshabalala continued: “We aim to take this attacking form into Morocco.”
Tshabalala is also happy with the return of his key players from injuries ahead of their CAF Women’s Champions League defense in Morocco.
TSHABALALA COMMENDS DOWNS’ MEDICAL TEAM
“Kudos must go to the medical team for the way they have managed the health of our players,” he added
“To have Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Rhoda Mulaudzi back to scoring form after several bouts of injuries bodes well for us.
“Their return to the team is perfect timing because we will be counting on their experience during the CAF Women’s Champions League.”
Meanwhile, in other results, Coal City Wizards got the better of City Lads with a 2-1 scoreline, whereas the University of Johannesburg went down 3-0 to the University of the Western Cape at home.
