Usuthu coach Folz fires first warning shot at Pirates

AmaZulu coach Romain Folz has fired first warning shot at Orlando Pirates ahead of their MTN8 final showdown in Durban early next month.

Usuthu progressed to the final after playing out to a goalless draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium. The first leg at FNB Stadium a fortnight ago ended in a 1-all stalemate.

On another hand, the Bucs were superb this past weekend as they progressed to the final. The Soweto giants outclassed holders Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 on Saturday following a goalless stalemate in the first leg.

Folz is confident his team has got all it takes to cause an upset against Pirates come November the 5th.

“It is going to be a tough game, Pirates are a very good team just like Chiefs,” Folz told the media.

“But at the end of the day, if you want me to tell you if they are better than us or something, No. We are absolutely not scared of them or any team that you put in front of us.

“So just bring whoever you want and we will give our best whether its Pirates or who we happened to play in the final. They will give their best, we will give our best.”

Folz will be aiming to end the club’s trophy drought that has stretched over three decades.

The last time Usuthu won a competitive silverware was back in 1992 when they lifted the Coca-Cola Cup.

At the begnning of the 2022/23 season, club supremo Sandile Zungu made it clear that he wants his club to become competitive and win trophies.

The two sides, AmaZulu and Pirates have already met in the DStv Premiership this season. The entertaining match ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
