Zwane opens up on crucial Bimenyimana decision
Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on his decision of opting to start with Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana against AmaZulu in the MTN8 semifinal at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
The Glamour Boys had received a major boost heading into the encounter as Bimenyimana had recovered from an injury which saw him miss out in a DStv Premiership match against TS Galaxy last Wednesday.
The new signing however, failed to impress in the final third as the Soweto giants bowed out of the MTN8 on away goal rule following a goalless draw. The first leg had ended 1-all in Soweto.
“When we were preparing he looked okay and he was also doing well in training. We felt we should start with him because we needed his presence inside the box,” Zwane told the media.
WHY CHIEFS FAILED TO SCORE…
“Our last game against TS Galaxy we had a lot of box entries from wide, but we didn’t have someone with that height to connect the ball.
“Fortunately, we had quite a few [against AmaZulu], but we have to move on, look at areas we need to improve on and keep on grinding giving our best.”
Following the 0-0 draw, Zwane identified one area his side need to work on.
He strongly believes the Soweto giants are beginning to gel. However the killer instinct is a problem that should be looked at closely
“Composure inside the box is something we need to work on, if we more relaxed we could have done better,” added Zwane.
“But like I said, the boys did everything you could see they wanted to win the game and it did not happen.
For Chiefs, it’s back to the drawing board. They shift focus to the DStv Premiership as they will face rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday in the Soweto derby.
It’s a tricky encounter for both teams, as bragging rights are at stake. Kickoff at the iconic FNB Stadium is at 15:30.
