Marumo play to a goalless draw against AmaZulu
Marumo Gallants were held to a goalless draw by AmaZulu in a DStv Premiership encounter at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
The two teams were looking happy to knock the ball around in the opening stages of the encounter.
As the first half wore on, it was the home side attacking and Usuthu scrambling to get back.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa continued to look to be the brighter team, as the KwaZulu-Natal club gave the ball away so cheaply.
However, Romain Folz’s men needed a bit of magic to shake things up and take command of the match.
Unfortunately, Usuthu couldn’t create much when they were in control of the match.
But Dan Malesela’s side kept on frightening the life out of the visitors till the half-time break, with the scoreline still 0-0.
In the second stanza, Marumo had chances to put the game to bed, but it was never meant to be.
AmaZulu, on the other hand, had offered little threat in front of the Limpopo-based outfit’s goals.
Marumo never stopped bossing possession and getting into dangerous areas – hoping to break the deadlock.
As the clock ticked towards 90 minutes, it was end-to-end stuff as both sides were searching for a late goal to claim maximum points but luck was not on their sides.
In the end, AmaZulu and Marumo were left to rue missed chances in a goalless draw.
As a result, Marumo find themselves at the bottom of the table [15th place] with 10 points after 11 games.
Meanwhile, Folz’s boys are placed 8th on the log standings with 14 points from 12 outings.
Ahead of the this clash, Folz had addressed the issue of AmaZulu’s lack of scoring goals, citing that is not a concern for him but now it seems like it might be a serious problem as they played yet another draw.
“It’s not a problem [lack of goals], because we scored in other games. I know it’s going to come [goals],” Folz told media after their 0-0 draw with Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend.
“I will be worried if we not in the capacity to create chances.”
