Morgan Mmamila reacts to his first defeat as a coach
Chippa United manager-cum-head coach Morgan Mammila has admitted that his club was second best during their 2-1 defeat by Cape Town City on Tuesday.
It was the first defeat for the Chilli Boys under Mammila in the five matches that he has been in charge of. Mmamila conceded that City were a stronger opponent in different aspects.
MAMMILA REFLECTS ON DEFEAT
“Difficult match to play, especially a team that is not afraid of losing a match,” he told the media after the match.
“They don’t change their style of play. They keep position and are the strongest team when it comes to the fullbacks. Strong team when it comes to set pieces.
“I asked my players not to make fouls closer to the 18-area box because they have the strangest set-piece takers. It’s one of those games where I would say we were playing in patches.”
CALL ME MANAGER
Meanwhile, Mammila has also clarified how he would want to be referred to in his current role.
“Call me Manager, I am like the coaches in the UK, yah,” said Mammila while also clarifying issues of his contract with the Chilli Boys.
“You are asking me a simple question. If you check the team sheet it says I am a head coach. So, you are asking the coach what his position is? It says head coach and you are asking me when is it changing for me as a head coach? That is what you are asking.
“This is a professional team. Each and every professional team we work with contracts. I have a two-year contract as a coaching manager of this team,” added the former CEO at Baroka.
Chippa will take on high-flying Richards Bay in their next match DStv Premiership match on Sunday, 30 October. They will host the match at Wits Stadium in Johannesburg due to the unavailability of their home stadium in Port Elizabeth.
