Tinkler gives an update on Lebo Manyama
Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has given an indication of when midfielder Lebogang Manyama could get back to full fitness.
Manyama has been training with the Citizens since late July after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs.
However, CT City are yet to officially announce if Manyama will be re-joining them.
The 32-year-old is currently nursing an injury after a tear on the meniscus. He underwent an operation and recently started physical training.
LEBO MANYAMA MAKING PROGRESS
“Lebo (Manyama) played his first game for 15 minutes against Stellenbosch on Saturday, we played them in a friendly,” Tinker told the media following CT City’s 2-1 win over Chippa United on Tuesday in the leagye.
“He still feels a little bit of pain in the knee so realistically January or maybe February is the target for Lebo.
“He got 15 minutes but he is nowhere near the Lebo that we all know, he still got a bit of a way to go,” said Tinkler.
Manyama spent the 2016/7 season at City where he had one of his best seasons. He was voted the PSL footballer of the season at the end of that particular season and earned a move to Turkey.
After a stint with Konyaspor, Manyama made a move back to Kaizer Chiefs where he spent four seasons.
TINKLER ON CHIPPA WIN
“I thought there was only one team that played there today. I counted four chances in the first seven minutes, looked at my watch and we had four clear-cut chances and I thought here we go again.
“Because that has been a bit of a story of our lives for us this season because we have been struggling to put the ball at the back of the net.
“You can’t put a finger on a specific person but chances are coming from everywhere and the ball is just not going in.”
The win takes the Citizens to the 10th position on the DStv Premiership log.
