Hungry Lions march on, Tuks suffer first defeat

Hungry Lions continued with their good form into the 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship. They cruised into a three-nil victory on Sunday, defeating TTM. In another match, AmaTuks suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Casric Stars.

Tshepo Mohlala opened the scoring for Lions in the 15th minute. The first half was less in action in the final third as both teams were not producing scoring opportunities.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Lions side. The Gauteng outfit started attacking and creating many chances in front of goal. Their efforts finally reaped some results as the Lions found the back of the net twice.

Mohlala netted his second from the penalty spot before Van Rooi made it three-nil in the 64th minute.

The victory took Hungry Lions to second on the log with 22 points from 11 matches. They are joint leaders with Polokwane City who are on top because of a better goal difference.

On the other hand, defeat for TTM left them seventh with 13 points from nine matches. The University of Pretoria vs Casric Stars.

Tshwane outfit AmaTuks unbeaten run in the league came to an end. They lost 2-1 at home against Casric Stars.

Nguse opened the scoring for the visitors 23 minutes into the game. Seven minutes later, Mosadi levelled matters for Stars. The comeback was completed in the 90th minute as Casric Stars snatched the maximum points.

The comeback victory raised Casric to fourth on the log, a point behind AmaTuks, who are third with 18 points.
