Paul Pogba ruled out of World Cup

French midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup that kicks off in Qatar next month.

The Juventus star has suffered another injury setback just a few weeks before the World Cup roars to life.

According to Sky Italia, the former Manchester United ace tore his meniscus in his right knee in July.

The 29-year-old was thought to be coming right in recent weeks. However, he has reportedly now suffered another setback during his recovery.

Since returning to Italy, Pogba has yet to play a competitive match for the Old Lady.

The Pogba injury comes as a blow for France, with fellow World Cup winner N’Golo Kante also sidelined.

The Chelsea midfield grafter recently underwent surgery on his hamstring. He has not played for the London outfit since mid-August.

Kante had to be pulled out during a tie against Tottenham on August 14.

Kante is also set to miss the World Cup, as he is expected back after four months.

“The midfielder visited a specialist with the club’s medical department to explore the options for his rehabilitation approach, and it was mutually agreed for N’Golo to have surgery to repair the damage.

“Following a successful operation, N’Golo is now expected to be sidelined for four months,” his club recently said in a statement.

According to reports, Kante has missed close to 60 games since the 2019 edition of the Europa League final.
