Swallows come from behind to draw with SuperSport
The points were shared between SuperSport United and Swallows as both sides played an entertaining 1-1 draw in a DStv Premiership encounter at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday evening.
Matsatsantsa steamed into the first half brightly, controlling the showdown but missing out on a couple of clear-cut chances.
As the half progressed, momentum swung back in the Dube Birds’ favour, pushing forward in numbers – searching for an opener without any luck.
However, it was the home side who spent the majority of the first period toiling at the finish line of the visitors.
The showpiece went into the half-time break goalless.
ACTION-PACKED
The second stanza was action-packed for the two teams and the attempts on goal were in constant supply, making the game good viewing for spectators in the stands.
In the 55th minute of the game, former Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo broke the deadlock to put Gavin Hunt’s side in front.
Maswaiswai, on the other hand, began to cause the hosts problems with the aim of levelling matters, but their efforts were not good enough until the stroke of the second half when Mtshali found an equaliser for Swallows.
The final whistle blew, with SuperSport with not believing what had just happened as they dropped points.
As a result, Matsatsantsa are currently placed third on the table with 21 points, while Swallows find themselves in the 14th position with 13 points. They have each played 12 games thus far.
Shifting focus on another result, AmaZulu secured a 1-0 win over Stellenbosch at King Zwelithini Stadium this afternoon.
