How Kaitano Tembo fared at Sekhukhune

Following Kaitano Tembo’s sacking as Sekhukhune United coach, FARPost looks at how the Zimbabwean mentor fared this season before he was relieved of his duties.

Tembo was also sacked by Supersport United in the middle of last season following a run of bad results.

Heading into 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, the Polokwane outfit invested so much in their squad under the guidance of Tembo, bringing in experienced players like Linda Mntambo, Tshegofatso Mabaso, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Daniel Cardoso and Victor Letsoalo.

Babina Noko under Tembo we good on paper as results were not forthcoming. Currently, Sekhukhune are 15th on the log standings at par with bottom placed Maritzburg United.

In 12 matches, Tembo managed to register two victories, five draws and suffered five defeats. Tembo’s biggiest victory was two nil against Soweto giants Orlando Pirates last month, then the biggest defeat he suffered was 3-1 against Supersport United.

The club revealed that a new coach will be announced in due course, for now senior coach McDonald Makhubedu will be in charge of the team.

Tembo became the sixth coach this season to part ways with his respective club. In the previous months Daine Klate, Romain Folz, Brandon Truter, Dylan Kerr and Dan Malesela also departed from their clubs mainly because results were not coming through.

Another coach who may be facing an axe soon is John Maduka of Maritzburg United. The KZN outfit is struggling for form since the beginning of the season.

The Team of Choice are at the basement of the log standings at par with Sekhukhune United who have a better goal difference.
