Former Swallows head coach Dylan Kerr has weighed in on the club’s salaries debacle.
Lesotho international Tumelo Khutlang, who is still contracted to Swallows, recently told this publication that he had slipped into depression as he was last paid back in February.
Kerr, who was shown the exit door last month by Swallows after the poor start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, has now come out to publicly speak about the challenges he faced during his tenure at Swallows.
“I wasn’t paid my salary for two months,” Kerr told Sports Night Amplified With Andile.
NO CONTRACT…
“It wasn’t easy, I wasn’t on the bench for five weeks, and I didn’t have a contract for three weeks.
“You come back at the start of the new season, players are sold, and others want to leave because of things happening off the field.
“We shouldn’t have finished in the playoffs. We were the second-best team after Sundowns on everything other than on the log.
“Swallows conceded 14 goals and all of those from players’ individual mistakes, and I know players that are responsible.
“We hurt ourselves as Swallows. We didn’t score goals, and that ultimately cost me my job. Kerr added.
The Dobsonville-based outfit marginally survived relegation last season after winning the promotional/relegation playoffs to retain their top-flight status.
In the current campaign, Swallows have been struggling for consistent form under the interim coach Musa Nyatama who is also registered as a player for the club.
Nyatama took over the coaching reigns from the discarded Kerr.
But the team is still struggling for positive results as they languish 12th on the Premiership table.
Swallows have won only three games, drawing four and losing five times after 12 games played in the league.
