Champions League Last 16 and Europa League playoff draws revealed

Defending champions Real Madrid will face Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, a repeat of last season’s final. The round of 16 draw was revealed on Monday.

Madrid are seeking to win a 15th European title, having claimed a 1-0 win over Liverpool in last year’s final in Paris.

Meanwhile, PSG have been drawn against Bayern Munich, whom they met in the 2020 final, in which they suffered a 1-0 defeat.

Elsewhere, Chelsea drew Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City were drawn against RB Leipzig while Tottenham Hotspur will face AC Milan.

The round-of-16 first legs will take place on 14-15 February and 21-22 February. The second legs are due to be held on 7-8 March and 14-15 March.

The final is scheduled for 10 June at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

EUROPA LEAGUE PLAYOFF

Barcelona and Manchester United will meet in the Europa League playoff round in February following the Catalan side’s elimination from the Champions League.

The tie will be played over two legs on 16 February 2023 and 23 February 2023. The first leg will take place at Camp Nou and the return game at Old Trafford a week later.

It will be the first meeting between the two clubs since they faced each other in the Champions League quarterfinal in 2018/19.

Barcelona won both games on that occasion, progressing 4-0 on aggregate.

In other notable fixtures Juventus were drawn against French side Nantes. Jose Mourinho’s Roma will take on Red Bull Salzburg.

This season’s final will be played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on 31 May 2023.
