Broos explains Pirates’ duo of Timm, Saleng Bafana inclusion

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has explained the inclusion of Orlando Pirates‘ in-form duo of Miguel Timm and Monnapule Saleng in his final 23-member squad that will play two international friendly matches later this month.

Bafana play Mozambique at Mbombela Stadium next Thursday [17 November] before hosting Angola at the same venue on Sunday [20 November].

“We are looking every week at the performances of the players…,” Broos said on SABC Sport.

The two Pirates stars have been in fine form, helping the Buccaneers lift the MTN8 trophy on Saturday.

BROOS ON TIMM

“I think he deserves it, he makes good matches, and he’s also a leader. The biggest quality is that he is a player who stays in his position.
“He is really a defensive midfielder. He’s always there when they lose the ball. He’s always in front of his defence… He has good passing also,” Broos explained.

On Saleng, he said he was impressed by his ability to take on players and score goals.

“He was amazing, very strong on the right side, and he scored goals. We know him from last year when he was playing at the Olympics.

“He’s back. You saw his qualities. He’s fast, eliminates men and can score. I think I have to give him a chance,” added Broos.
