Royal AM captain Sam Manganyi has revealed the lessons his side learnt in the DR Congo last week when they travelled to play TP Mazambe in the a CAF Confederation Cup clash.
The club endured a horror experience as they were mistreated the minute they landed in Central Africa.
In the past few days, Royal AM president Shauwn Mkhize took to social media and slammed their opponents, Mazembe, for the hush treatment the KwaZulu-Natal side were subjected to.
Mistreating of teams in other countries seems to be a growing pandemic in African football.
Last season, Orlando Pirates also experienced the same incident when they travelled to Tanzania to face Simba.
“I think it was a learning curve because before we went there we were told that it’s not going to be good or it’s not going to be nice. We need to learning from what happened,” Manganyi told the media.

“When we went there, we were not playing against eleven man, but 12 man because the stadium was packed and they had support behind them.
“I wish we’ll have more support, we need to up our socks and work more harder than what we did when we went there.
The captain added: “We just have to be mentally strong, I think what they are doing is working mentally on us because maybe they thought maybe in terms of playing wise we were going to be superior than them.
“They just needed to do anything and everything to destabilize us. We just have to be mentally strong.”
Heading into the second leg on Wednesday, Mazambe have an upper hand following a two nil victory in the first leg.
Kickoff at Moses Mabhida Stadium is at 7pm.
