Lionel Messi reveals his best ever coach
Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has had a memorable career and has since picked his best coach ever.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward played his best football at Barcelona, where he spent 21 years.
He left the Spanish giants last year after failing to reach an agreement for a new deal with the Catalonia giants.
LIONEL MESSI HAILS PEP GUARDIOLA
Unsurprisingly, he has singled out Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, whom he has ever worked with at both club and national team.
The 35-year-old talisman had an incredible run under the tutelage of the Spaniard between 2008 and 2012.
Together, they won three La Liga titles during that spell and two UEFA Champions Leagues.
The Argentina captain also scored well under Guardiola, netting 211 goals and providing 94 assists in 219 matches in all competitions.
Crowned Ballon d’Or winner seven times, Messi described Guardiola as a mentor who made football look easy.
“Pep is the best coach I have ever had. Everything he planned always ended up happening,” he told Movistar.
The ‘Little Magician’ admires how Guardiola prepares for matches and his ability to convey the message to players.
HE IS SPECIAL
“He’s special in the way he sees things, prepares for matches and communicates.
“Guardiola did a lot of harm to football, too, because it seemed too easy, so simple that everyone wanted to copy it.”
Guardiola parted company with Barca at the end of the 2011/12 season to join Bayern Munich in Germany.
Until 2021, his prodigy, Messi, carried the Spanish giants on his shoulders. Messi has indicated that the 2022 FIFA World Cup is his last.
He is part of Argentina’s squad that will do duty at the FIFA World Cup that kicks off on Sunday, 19 November, in Qatar.
