Zwane on what Chiefs’ young trio got right

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has shared what the young trio of Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba did right in the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday.

The Amakhosi mentor praised their mental state and their readiness. It was a tight affair against rivals Orlando Pirates. However, both teams couldn’t find the back of the net. Therefore, the penalty shootout had to decide the winner.

Despite the loss, Zwane was happy with the impact youngsters made after they were introduced.

“For me, they changed the complexion of the game. They gave us extra. I think that moment as well that’s when we created that opportunity to score. Apart from that, we looked dangerous, chances that we created,” Zwane told the media.

“It’s good for the young boys. This will also encourage other youngsters who are playing in our DDC team that you can go in and change the complexion of the game. When there are about 80 000 thousand people at FNB Stadium, that means mentally they were ready.

“That’s all that we expect from them, if they can cope with that, which means in the next games they will be even much better. It will also help other youngsters that are waiting for their opportunity to come.

Zwane further revealed that giving youngsters the opportunity to play is a direction that the club has decided to take.

“Most definitely, we will give them [youngsters] the opportunity, that’s one thing. It’s a direction we taking as a club giving these youngsters the opportunity, and they went in there,” Zwane added.

Amakhosi finished third after defeating AmaZulu in the penalty shootout. On the other hand, Sundowns were crowned champions after thrashing Orlando Pirates four-nil in the final.
