Percy Tau’s new hair-cut leaves tongues wagging
Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has left tongues wagging on social media after spotting a new hair-cut.
Tau is now spotting a clean-shaven hair-cut, which seems strange for someone who usually either has spiky hair or dreadlocks.
The new-look Al Ahly forward has ignited debate among fans who are now trying to make sense of the haircut.
HINT OF NEW BEGINNING
Some of the supporters, including those from South Africa, have speculated that Tau is sending a message of a new beginning in his troubled career in Egypt.
“New haircut,” Al Ahly tweeted.
In reaction, fans such as Mkomana and Omar Fathy gave mixed views on Twitter.
Mkomana and Fathy separately said the new haircut signalled a new beginning for Tau.
“New look, new comeback,” Fathy said.
“That’s not a haircut. It’s a chiskop tho…!” Thomango said.
Roman Fernandes was a bit sarcastic, saying Tau is now looking like Kaizer Chiefs’ Zambian goal machine Collins Mbesuma:
“Now, he looks like Mbesuma,” Fernandes tweeted.
A supporter calling himself Black Rock choose to read too much into Tau’s new hairstyle, saying the forward was looking sad.
“He doesn’t look happy at all,”’ Rock said.
Brandon James said Tau looked better in his previous new haircut.
“He was okay with his hair,” he said.
Ntanganedzeni was philosophic in correcting his counterparts over their comments.
“Banna. That’s not a haircut. He cut his hair,” he said.
Tsego chipped in, saying: “I think you are confusing a hairstyle and a haircut.”
Tau has struggled with injuries since his signing for the Cairo-based team from Brighton and Hove last November.
The Bafana Bafana international has this season featured in just two games as a substitute for Al Ahly before the World Cup break.
Tau signed for Al Ahly then under South African coach Pitso Mosimane.
HUGO BROOS WARNING TO TAU
The former Bafana Bafana coach Mosimane resigned in June this year, went on a sabbatical and is now coaching Al Ahli Saudi in Saudi Arabia’s second tier.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has since advised Tau to strive for more game time if he is to crawl his way back into the national team.
Broos left out Tau from the squad to face Mozambique and Angola in the forthcoming friendlies.
