Johnny Ferreira quits TTM citing financial instability
It never rains but pours for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), as head coach Johnny Ferreira has quit citing financial instability.
Ferreira has confirmed to FARPost that he has tendered his resignation with immediate effect on Tuesday morning.
He was appointed coach at the beginning of the season and tasked with promoting the club to the DStv Premiership. The club started the season like a house on fire with four wins in their opening six matches and also topped the log standings.
But the well-documented financial troubles rocked the Limpopo club, which saw them lose form and drop to the bottom half of the table.
Speaking to FARPost soon after his resignation, Ferreira cited financial instability as the main reason.
“Just stability. I want stability hey. It was stable, but I want more financial stability, to be more specific,” said the 65-year-old.
“Everything else I was satisfied with, but I just needed more financial stability.
FERREIRA ON HIS TTM TENURE
“Fantastic first five games but pathetic last six games. I have my reasons (for poor performance), but I won’t explain that publicly now. I have no offers, but I am sure there will be a few clubs that will inquire about my services.
ON WHAT TTM NEEDS
“It’s a club that needs a better structure. It’s a club that needs better organisation and managerial organisation, but I don’t want to be critical. Every club goes through challenges. It just depends on what they are. Whether the administration or financial challenges, every club goes through that. There is nothing wrong with that. They must fix it though. If they don’t fix it, they might come short.
“I had a very good relationship with Chairman Mulaudzi. He has been very smart with me, and he has allowed me to think independently and act independently. I always respect the Chairmen that do that. Of course, the club can go far, Johnny Ferreira is just a passerby. Tomorrow there is another coach. There are a lot of Johnny Ferreira’s in South Africa, Zimbabwe or wherever. The Chairman is an ambitious man. Very intelligent guy.”
