Bafana prospect Van Duivenbooden set to finally acquire passport 

Bafana Bafana hopeful Simon Van Duivenbooden has landed in the country to acquire his passport in what could be music to Hugo Broos’ ears in his hunt for a lethal striker.

The Netherlands-born forward landed on Wednesday with high hopes of getting a passport during the international break.

Undoubtedly the 20-year-old could be the answer to Broos‘ need for an gunslinger considering how he has fared in Netherlands at Vitesse Arnhem.

What makes his credentials undoubted is his scoring abilities. He recently broke into the senior team after a successful stint in the reserve side.

LETHAL GOAL SCORER

In three appearances for the senior team, he scored one goal, a glimmer of what he has to offer if effectively deployed.

He has already pledged his allegiance to Bafana Bafana but progress had been halted because he does not possess a South African passport.

In exclusive interview with FARPost back in June, Van Duivenbooden said it will be an honour for to represent Bafana Bafana.

His family also shares the same dream for to don the green and gold jersey.

“I visit home once a year to see my family and I think it’s a beautiful country. It would mean a lot to me to represent South Africa,” Van Duivenbooden told FARPost.

Van Duivenbooden will hope to game more game time in the Netherlands elite league after the World Cup break.

What will probably give him more confident ahead of the oncoming fixtures is the fact that he has been part of the system, having risen from the junior ranks.

The Dutch football ranks is reknowned for carving out some of the finest football worldwide.

He scored an impressive 17 goals in 23 appearances reserve league last season, a feat which saw helped him gain promotion into the senior team after the 2021/22 season.
