Heung-min Son: I won’t miss this for the world

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son is set to start in South Korea’s FIFA World Cup opener against Uruguay on Thursday, 24 November.

Son has been included in Paulo Bento’s 26-man squad for the World Cup after he underwent surgery for a fractured eye socket.

The 30-year-old was spotted at training for the first time wearing a protective face mask,

He had suffered an injury in a UEFA Champions League game.

The game was against Marseille and it ended with a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Spurs.

The Asian nation decided to take their chances by including Son in their World Cup squad despite his fitness issues.

A week ago, Son took to social media to express his gratitude for being selected for the World Cup.

And for the support he received during the difficult times.

SON’S EMOTIONAL LETTER

“Hi everyone.

“I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you all for the messages of support I have received over the last week,” said Son.

“I have read so many of them and truly, truly appreciate you all.

“In a tough time, I received a lot of strength from you!

“Playing for your country at the World Cup is the dream of so many children growing up, just as it was one of mine too.

“I won’t miss this for the world.

“I can’t wait to represent our beautiful country, see you soon.”
