I don’t have interest in football anymore, says Masala Mulaudzi

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) chairman Masala Mulaudzi has dropped a hint that his time running a football club could be coming to an end.

Masala’s TTM are on the verge of being sold or relocated from Limpopo to a different province very soon.

This is due to the challenges bedevilling the club which include their fallout with Thulamela Municipality which owns Thohoyandou Stadium and the well-documented financial crisis.

It has been widely reported that TTM players have gone for months without being paid, something the club has denied.

MULAUDZI’S FOOTBALL BACKGROUND

Mulaudzi first came into the local football scene after purchasing the second-tier status of Milano United in 2017.

In 2020, he sold the status to Sekhukhune United and bought the status of Bidvest Wits, a sale that shocked the football fraternity.

But within a space of six months, Mulaudzi sold the PSL status to Abram Sello, who renamed the club Marumo Gallants.

It did not take long before Mulaudzi was back in football after acquiring the status of Royal AM in 2021.

WHY THE LOSS OF INTEREST

Speaking to FARPost on Tuesday, Mulaudzi said he has fulfilled all his set objectives and wants nothing to do with football.

“Not at all (I am no longer interested). I think I fulfilled my five-year period that I have myself to contribute to South African football,” he told this publication.

“Also, we have achieved more than what we wanted to achieve in football within a very short period of time. I promised that TTM will go to the PSL (DStv Premiership) whether they get promoted or any way. We know TTM got to the PSL by acquiring the status, so I have reached the ceiling.

“Football is not my core business. I have other businesses that I run. It’s a weekend thing for me. It’s a B business, so football is not a core business, so I don’t have any interest anymore in football. Not at the moment. No, no, no, I don’t have any interest at all,” he said.

“I wish not to get involved, but then if people don’t have money, what do you do? You run the club, or you relocate the club to reduce the expenses. But I don’t have any interest in football at all. It’s not my key business. I am a corporate investor. I am not a football investor. I have a huge investment portfolio that I am running, which by far is bigger than TTM.”
