Manuel Kambala resurfaces at Motsepe Championship League side

Former Baroka midfielder Manuel Kambala has resurfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship club Magesi FC.

FARPost spotted the Mozambique international training at the Polokwane-based club just before they closed for the FIFA World Cup break.

MANUEL KAMBALA JOINING MAGESI?

This publication has since established that the 31-year-old had been training with the club for a couple of days.

Kambala is a free agent, having parted ways with Baroka at the end of the last season.

After the Baroka departure, there was a formal approach from Marumo Gallants for the player, but talks collapsed.

During his three year stay at Baroka, Kambala was one of the key players. He managed to play in 72 matches in all competitions.

He scored only one goal for the club which is the famous header that denied Kaizer Chiefs the league title in 2019/20 season.

The player has remained in South Africa all long while awaiting offers.

A move to Magesi could see him reunite with his former teammates Elvis Chipezeze and Kagiso Selemela. The pair joined Magesi at the beginning of the season.

Meanwhile, the club was due to officially unveil incoming coach Clinton Larsen this week. But that has since been postponed until the team returns from the short break.

MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT

Magesi has done relatively well compared to their debut season in the league in 2016/17 season. They have so far collected 16 points from 12 matches and coach Jacky Ledwaba believes they are halfway from safety.

“It’s not bad (how we started). I would say this time everything is in control. If you can check  we collected 16 points so I would say we are halfway from relegation or surviving relegation,” he said.

“Our problem has been scoring goals. Most of the matches we list them because of the same problem. We had chances to score but we didn’t bury them. We always leave that second goal.”
