How Hlongwane’s US team reacted to his Bafana brace
US Major Soccer League side, Minnesota United, has reacted to its striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane’s brace for Bafana Bafana on Thursday evening.
The 21-year-old forward netted a double that secured Bafana Bafana a 2-1 win over Mozambique’s Mambas at Mbombela Stadium.
The United States side followed the friendly closely through its social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
WE SEE YOU BONGI!
Little wonder, Minnesota tweeted after Hlongwane had scored the double and celebrated with team-mates.
“We see you Bongi…Look at Bongi man, so inspirational,” the US club tweeted.
In reaction, some fans such as Lesetja Thomas patted Minnesota for contributing to the striker’s career growth.
“Thank you for treating our boy so good. It shows in the field,” he said.
Ice Tali Mamba added a bit of fun to the conversation by urging Minnesota to throw a party for the South Africa forward.
“Slaughter a whole cow for Bongi when he comes back and make isiphandla for the man,” he said.
Dr Mazwi choose to play an agent for other Bafana Bafana players such as Miguel Timm of Orlando Pirates.
“Please take Timm as well, the boy is your team’s material,” he said.
FAN FOR HLONGWANE DATE WITH MINAJ
Tefo Bohlale went even further to urge Minnesota to hook up Hlongwane with American top artist Nicki Minaj.
“When he comes back, organize a date for him with Nicki Minaj,” he suggested.
Hlongwane rescued Bafana Bafana when they were staring defeat in the face.
The hosts had fallen behind to Nelson Daniel Divrassone’s goal for the Mambas.
The Mozambican intercepted Rushine du Reuck’s pass before rounding Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to score.
That Bafana Bafana secured the win is all thanks to the former Maritzburg United star
Hlongwane joined Minnesota mid this year after spending a few seasons of his professional career at Maritzburg.
He made his professional debut while aged 18 and registered eight goals and seven assists with the Team of Choice.
The Bafana Bafana gem scored his first professional goal in June of 2019 against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
Hlongwane earned the PSL Player of the Season award nomination in the 2020-21 season.
The striker debuted for Bafana and has four goals in seven appearances for the national team.
