Maritzburg United’s pledge to Fadlu Davids

Maritzburg United Chief Operations Officer Younus Kadodia has made a pledge to their new coach Fadlu Davids.

Davids faces a mammoth task ahead of him, with the club currently at rock bottom. The Team of Choice recently welcomed back Davids, replacing coach John Maduka, who had a challenging short stint.

The Malawian coach left Maritzburg at the basement of the DStv Premiership table with a pathetic scoring record.

Maritzburg were winless in their last eight games, and players looked demotivated in their games.

The former Orlando Pirates coach knows he will need to get the team to score goals as quickly as possible.

He has since made it clear that he is up for the task, and his mission is to help the Pietermaritzburg outfit finish in the top eight.

DAVIDS TO GET FULL SUPPORT

The COO has assured that they will give the coach all the support he may need to change the team’s fortunes.

There is a general feeling that Maduka was not given enough support, especially in the transfer market.

“Fadlu Davids is someone we know well, he achieved success with the club previously, and obviously, the team situation right now is a bit different,” Kadodia told FARPost.

THE MANDATE AND ADVANTAGE OF DAVIDS

With the club currently in danger of relegation, the first objective for Davids is to move up the log. The COO thinks that six weeks before their next league game gives the coach a considerable advantage to change things.

“We find ourselves in a position where we should not be, so I think the advantage for him is he has six weeks to prepare for the resumption of the league. I think he will do well, and we will support him in everything.”

“The first objective is to get out of that position, and from there, we will look at the next target based on the team performance.”
