Venda Football Academy confirm Joel Masutha’s appointment

Venda Football Academy (VFA) have confirmed the appointment of coach Joel Masutha as a new member of the technical team setup.

As it was first reported by FARPost, Masutha joins the technical team consisting of coach Simo Dladla.

The decision to rope in the former Black Leopards goalkeeper was triggered by the recent poor results of the Limpopo side in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

VFA are stuck at second from bottom of the log after 12 matches. They have won only three matches with eight defeats.

VFA ANNOUNCE JOEL MASUTHA

The club took to social media on Monday evening to announce the arrival of Masutha, who will be assisting Dladla.

“Venda Football Academy (VFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel Masutha as the club’s assistant coach,” read the statement from the club.

“He comes with vast coaching experience having coached in the DStv Premiership. And also in the National First Division, now known as Motsepe Foundation Championship, for many years.

“The club felt it necessary to boost the technical team following a string of poor performance in the first 12 league games of the season,” the club said.

“Coach Masutha will be the Assistant to Head Coach Simo Dladla. They are expected to lead the team into the club’s next phase with improved results.”

Masutha was in charge when Black Leopards gained promotion to the Premiership in 2017/18.

However, he was shown the exit door a few matches into the season in South Africa’s topflight.

MACBETH SIBAYA MOVE PENDING

This publication has established that former Bafana Bafana midfielder MacBeth Sibaya is also in serious talks to join the club. Sibaya has worked with Dladla at Uthongathi before.

VFA are one of the clubs who have already returned to training in preparation for the second round of the season.

They will face a mammoth task in their first match of the year against high flying Casric Stars in Thohoyandou.
